Westlock Flying Club

The Westlock Flying Club operates from the Westlock Airport CES4,  located about 5 miles (7 kilometres) east of the town, and south of Highway 18. The club was formed in 1975, the same year the current airport was constructed.

We do not offer flight training, but we can help you arrange flight training with independent instructors. Our members typically own their own aircraft, rent the club plane,  or simply just like being around people who fly.

Fly-In Breakfast

Our major event of the year is our drive/fly-in breakfast, held every year on the second Sunday in August.  We welcome planes (and helicopters!) flying in from all over, as well as drive-in visitors who like to come out for breakfast and to see all of the aircraft. We serve pancakes, eggs, and sausages, along with coffee and other drinks. This is always a big community event. Everyone is welcome!

Why Join the Westlock Flying Club?

First off, you will become part of the aviation community in the Westlock area! You will be able to rent the club’s Piper Cherokee 140 (see below). You can enjoy the fellowship at our monthly meetings.  You can get to know other members by being involved in our activities, such as helping with our annual fly-in breakfast, hangar maintenance, or participating in group flying trips. You don’t have to be a pilot to join, come out and just be a part of a great club with interesting people. We hold an annual Christmas party, and every couple of years arrange a recurrency training session.

Cherokee PA-28 for Rent

The club owns a Piper Cherokee PA-28-180 “Challenger” aircraft that can be rented by licensed members, or by students with an instructor.  Link to details.  The Cherokee is stored in our own hangar, just east of the terminal building. Unfortunately, we do not offer flight training, but our plane is available if you can find an instructor to work with you (we can help with this too).

The Westlock airport is a friendly place to visit or store your aircraft, and offers a paved, lighted runway 75 x 3400 feet, a terminal building with washrooms, and a self serve fuel pump (100LL). Lots are available from Westlock County for hangars (call the county at 780-349-3346), or from Crosswind Landing, to build your own hangar and/or home.
